Select the perfect drinks for your wedding
Drinks
Equally as important as the food at the wedding are the drinks you choose to serve. Here is a basic guide to some of your alcohol choices for the day.
Moscato d'Asti - A lovely refreshing drink that mightnt have the cache of Champagne, but isn't as dear, either. Widely available.
Claret - A classic red wine. Chateau La Croix St-Michel 2001 Montagne Saint Emilion (£9.99 from Majestic) is well balanced and smooth.
Sauternes - Widely recognised as the best sweet white wine. Try it with foie gras or with desserts. Available in half-bottles in many supermarkets.
Burgundy - Another region producing classic wines. Both red and white are revered and, consequently, costly. A real treat.
Vodka - Pinky Vodka is a striking blend of rose petals, violets and strawberries. The perfect mixer for fruitbased cocktails, its rumoured to be Beyonces favourite tipple.
Sherry - Once considered the tipple of old ladies, sherry is becoming fashionable. A variety of styles from bone dry to sweet.
Malt whisky - One for the ladies as well as the men these days, it comes in a range of styles from silk smooth lowland malts to feisty island tipples.
Armagnac - Once the poor cousin of Cognac, the more southerly Argmanac is a brandy that is now respected in its own right. Widely available.
Vintage port - The perfect drink to mark the end of any special occasion mellow, complex and fab.
